“LET’S HARMONIZE THE WORLD”
The 2016/17 Bluewater Chorus
It's all about the Bass....
“Hello everyone! Music has been my life as long as I can remember. I loved to sing as a young child, and of course joined the choir in public school. At the age of seven I started taking piano lessons and continued my studies till the age of 25. In high school I joined the band and played the French horn for 5 years. After high school I started taking on my own piano students part-time.
In 1981 Randy and I were married and a few years later became the proud parents of a son and three years later a daughter. A wife, a mother, a piano teacher and then our church we attended asked if I would become their organist. I agreed but YIKES! , they wanted me also to lead the congregation with my voice as well. Timing was perfect, as I soon saw an ad in the paper for 3 free singing lessons with Bluewater chorus. I thought well it can’t hurt and maybe I’ll gain the confidence I need to sing in public.
In November 1998 I joined this wonderful organization. I have made so many friends, shared so many wonderful moments. Memories to last a lifetime. Since joining I have had many interesting tasks. I have always been in the lead section and soon took the role as their section leader. I became a member on the music committee, I also became a member of the board as music committee liaison. I have been chorus Historian, Birthday Announcer, Video tech person, Coffee Club organizer, Assistant Director, Associate Director, Co-Director with Sue Murdoch and now have taken on this very important role as your new director.
I am very excited about this new position in my life. Sweet Adelines has successfully helped me gain the confidence I needed as I now am music director of Hepworth, Sauble and Wiarton Catholic churches. I have learned so much over the past 21 years with Bluewater. I have had wonderful educational opportunities, made more friends than I can count, have sung in 3 quartets, and I continue to share this love of singing 4 part Barbershop Harmony.
I look forward to continuing this journey with you as your Director.”
